Microblogologist in the World of Weasels

A few months ago I came across a hilarious blog. Little did I know that not only would this blog entertain me and give me a fun source of blog fodder (the Flat WeaselMomma series), but it would lead to my becoming friends with the real WeaselMomma. And so being that she lives not too far from my parents' place and I was pretty sure she wasn't a serial killer* I suggested we have a playdate "for the kids". She must have decided I wasn't a serial killer* as well and her daughter Monkey Weasel decided it would be fun to have us crash her birthday dinner so Niecey and I jumped in the trusty oldsmobile and off we went.

A great time was had by all and the real WeaselMomma is an even better cook than the Flat one! Her family has the same tradition as mine and the birthday person gets to pick the meal so we had fried chicken, broccoli and noodles so ironically both forms of WeaselMomma made me chicken.

Her entire family was delightful and Niecey and I felt at home right away. I am so happy we were able to have our get together, we'll definitely have to do it again! Niecey wanted to write WeaselMomma a letter when we got home, she wrote the first part and then I took over:

Dear WeaselMomma,

i am niecey i am 5. I have a bear named big bear, he is my favorite bear. He loves me and I love him too and I have a monkey comforter and I like it, it is my favorite and I love it. And I have my own bed I like my own bed. I sleep downstairs and I go to kindergarten at school and I have friends that I like they are nice to me.

Niecey

I thought she wanted to write a thank you note but apparently not, lol. Guess I'll have to thank them myself. Thank you Weasels for being great hosts and making us feel like part of the family! And for all you jealous people who read WeaselMomma's blog and have never met her, she is even funnier in person and hanging out with her was like a living a great blog post. Her husband is hilarious as well and the two of them together...

I can't wait to see the pictures her hubby took, I didn't take many myself so have to wait to see if they turned out. I'm also looking forward to reading her post about our meeting. Oh and there will be a few more FWM posts, I have plans and pics for them but have not gotten around to writing them all up, they will have to wait until I get home.

I have to admit, I would never suspect someone who openly discussed whether or not she was a serial killer to be a serial killer.

What a cunning ruse!

Or is it?

Awww, it was great having you and Niecey both. We very much enjoyed having you and getting to meet in real life. I will be working on a post about it all today, as soon as the coffee clears my head and I can see straight. Maybe your Dad's Home Brew will do the trick.

aren't the weasel's great?! i totally wish i had come to her house for the whole day w/meg's kids instead of just going by to pick them up. they had such a blast there that day and the weasels are such cool and fun ppl to hang out with. i only got to hang out for a little while, but they made me feel welcome and part of the gang.

Dan: Maybe next time I am in town (I still am but am booked from now until going home) we can test that theory. I think Niecey and D would be an interesting pair of playmates.

WeaselMomma: Kayla says "Thank you for letting me and my Auntie Kee come over it was nice visiting you and your five kids." I haven't checked yet but if you cracked open a home brew before or during writing the post I predict it is either not up yet or will be very interesting...

Nonna: They most definitely are and we definitely felt like we were part of the gang! Niecey is an honorary weasel now, lol.

Well up until you said that about the serial killer alliance, I was all reassured that neither of you could possibly be one. And then, the clever disclaimer on your part. And THEN, LiteralDan mentions that it is quite the cunning ruse and now I'm sort of scared of all of you. LiteralDan included. Because how much MORE cunning would it be to have THREE serial killers in on the alliance, vouching for one another?

Not only that but we are all from the Chicagoland area... I have decided you need to move closer to Chicago, hurry up on that degree and get your butt up north so you can join the alliance!

I have had so much fun with Flat WeaselMomma! It was sad having her when sick since it cramped my style but at the same time it gave me something to play with when I was feeling up to it. Glad you enjoyed the series and thanks for reading. You're welcome about my reading your blog, it is amazing to see how far the kiddies have come, your children are beautiful!

The Weasel has landed. Hope she likes slam dancing. Where did you get all of those clothes?

The Microblogologist said...

What is slam dancing? I made the clothes, the cardboard pieces can be used as stencils to make more if you and or the kiddies want =).

You don't know about slam dancing? Now I feel really old!

The Microblogologist said...

Don't feel old, my lack of pop culture knowledge transcends time and space!

i have a microbiology type question for you. is there anyway to get in touch with you in private?

The Microblogologist said...

To answer Nonna's question about getting in touch with me privately for those who may stumble on this, just leave a comment with your e-mail address as she wisely did with a "please don't publish this" part and if you want the question/comment/whatever. Since I hate captcha and am unwilling to subject my readers to it I use comment moderation to control spam and potential unacceptable comments (thus far this has not been a problem but I will NOT allow my blog to become a cesspool like pretty much every AOL article, seriously it makes me lose faith in our species to read AOL article comments) this allows you to send me "secret" comment messages. I read every comment before publishing them so there shouldn't be any posted if you tell me not to. ::End of Public Service Announcement::

I am not dead (yet), I am working on the second rep of my current study. I should be on the third rep right now and if I don't finish this rep in time I will not be able to go home for Christmas (because my supplies will go bad, not because my boss is mean). Plus I have to wade through over 300 pics and vids from Thanksgiving week and I am way behind on my blog reading. I'll catch up eventually and the post-goodbye adventures of Flat WeaselMomma will resume (I am the most prolific FWM blogger ever!).

In the mean time I dragged Cheryl back with me and that has induced enough boredom for her to start updating her blog again, everyone should go try her flavor of nuts, it isn't as nerdy as mine but it is good stuff (hopefully, I have not read her latest yet and she could so be talking smack about me) =).

Not really on your most recent post, but a question on the comment you just left on our post: do you have a particular probiotic that you like? I just added, in addition to the infant probiotics that we've been putting in Hallie's formula a second: something called Hi Potency 8 by Udo's blends. This is supposed to work on the intestinal flora in particular, and so it seemed like a good addition (the infant probiotic is also Udo's blend). I'm hoping to head off major GI reaction to the flagyl--Hallie doesn't tolerate ABX well from our experience and if we can keep her gut from acting up over the next ten days, that would be a good thing. Anyway, it would be interesting to hear what you use because you guys do have some similar tummy stuff going on...

Thanks!

Abby
